Trawling

If my work is read as a kind of self portraiture in ‘Trawling’ you can see me gathering in my sculpture tools,  water here untamed and uncontrolled or in other pieces calm and still, suggests that ‘other world’ and is also used to conjure up moods and emotions.  Tower blocks often appear in the distance as a symbol of the ‘real’ world, in which it is harder to move both physically and emotionally.

No Room

In ‘No Room’, 2003 I began to work on a series of heads, at first, as here, I tried to achieve a universal ‘idea of a head’ but soon began to use my own profile to personalise the work. I still allowed the head to frame the image so that as the pieces are approached the profiles may appear to be almost ’key hole’ like drawing the viewer deeper into the image rather than just containing it.
